To achieve excellent performance and development in work place, a clear plan and structure are necessary. My target job is to be a manager of international business in a multinational company. I would like to implement my leadership ability, technical skills, and professional knowledge in work to obtain acknowledgement from leaders.
First of all, I am very clear about the industries and jobs I am going for. My industry is Manufacturing (Industrial Products / Consumer Products) and Automation Industry, I am going to apply for the positions of marketing strategy and Business field . I prefer first join the training program for the business position. Finally, as for the choice of companies, my first choice is automate company such as ABB, Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, GE, the second choice is to the leading industrial companies such as Shell, BASF, Merck and the like .I know very well about the functions of the marketing department in industrial products (on the one hand I have the internship experience and on the other hand, I have read a lot of relevant information), industrial consumer goods is different from different fast moving consumer goods, fast moving consumer goods are of market leading, while for industrial products, there may not be a specialized market strategy department, there will be PM (product management). There is no department dedicate to do analysis because in the market, industrial products usually are of high technology, the entry threshold is very high. Second,the industrial products are greatly affected by non-market factors (policies, people, etc.).
My knowledge about the company. The best I know about is ABB, followed by GE, Internet companies and others. If I interview some companies that are not my first Choice, I will prepare in advance. Before I interviewed the company Avery, I took a look of Avery’s 2012 financial reports as well as job description which helped me better understand Avery’s Job Requirements and Company Status.
My personal advantage. I think my biggest strength is that I have the background of international education and work experience. I am proficient in English and Mandarin. Plus I am skilled at analyzing, able to grasp the characteristics of things, have better logic to analyze and reasoning, which means I can do well in marketing and business analyzing. Also, I have been working and studying with people from different countries, these opportunities enhances my communication skill and deepen my understanding to different cultures.
In searching for jobs, I would like to do the following preparation work. First, establish a EXCEL file, including information like Company name, position department, industry category, application account password, application address, application deadline, current status. Second, we should keep in mind do not do interview randomly, the interview will consume a lot of your energy, especially the time road and the high pressure state during interview, so do not think the more you interviewed, the more job you will get. I prepare to have three interviews a week. So that I could be fully prepared and to have adequate rest. Also I need to work on my resume, people usually focus on the high and middle area of the resume, then I would put more highlights there. Try to make make my description as concrete as possible, and use the results and experience to represent.
Interview form. Phone interview, find a quiet place is the most important, slow down the speaking rhythm and keep calm. Remember not to interrupt when the other is speaking and respect each other. Group interview. Figure out own contribution from , if my solution is indeed able to solve the case, articulate it clearly and state own reasons Respect each participant of the group, do not ignore those who do not speak or those who are more introverted. If I really do not have ideas for the contents of the case, I can try to 1. Collect and organize the team’s ideas 2. Balance the situation, to remind everyone to pay attention to the time, do not do unnecessary quarrel 3. Writing the last Presentation.
It is essential to enter the workforce successfully. It acts as a fundament for further work in the work place. Firstly, it is key to gasp the business culture and then implement it in work thoroughly in practical work. For the new joiner, learning the company culture and environment can help me build an overall perception to the company. Moreover, it is useful to establish business and work acumen to better finish the work more efficiently and effectively. Also, getting along with colleagues well can also help people to enter the workforce successfully.
In long term, I would like to focus on improving myself by accumulating abundant and diversified experience from different types of projects, and acquire interpersonal skills by participating in business activities and get along different clients as much as possible. Also, I will join learning and developing program offered by the company since it can help me improve my technical skills and professional knowledge in accordance to my level.
